Gold Packages $75
We will analyze your first draft, and provide constructive feedback on word choice, structure, style, tone, strengths, weaknesses, and appropriateness of content. We will correct spelling and grammar errors, and, if needed, provide concrete suggestions to improve your introduction, conclusion, and transitions. We also include a "marked-up" draft (in Word only) so that you can accept or reject editing suggestions with the click of the mouse.

Platinum Packages $155
In addition to the written commentary described in the Gold Package, you will be provided with a one-on-one consultation, and two rounds of edits. The consultation, provided after the first draft edit, will give you the opportunity to directly question and seek advice from your ESLessays counselor. We will then provide you with a final written analysis, ensuring that your essay has the polish and style necessary to stand out from your competitors.

TELL
To help you better understand our services, we have put together a brief outline highlighting each of the steps in our editing process.

GOLD PACKAGE:
1) Assign essay to the appropriate ESLessays editor
Students are matched with editors based upon many factors, including
  • availability
  • type of program
  • student's needs
2) Review assigned topic, and school of application
Before reading your essay, your ESLessay editor will:
  • review your assigned topic
  • determine your school of application
  • look for any constraints that must be adhered to, for example, a word limit, or spacing limitations.
3) Carefully read student's original essay two to three times
Your ESLessays editor will read your essay two to three times.
  • first read will be simply to become familiar with your writing
  • second read is to assess the content and structure of your essay
  • third read is to check for errors in spelling and grammar
4) Edit essay using a powerful software tool
Using Microsoft Word's tracking tool, your ESLessays editor will analyze and edit your essay for:
  • Overall structure, style, and tone
    Is the essay organized?
Does it present an appropriate style and tone?
Does it have a well thought out introduction and conclusion?
Are their strong transitional sentences where needed?
  • Spelling and Grammar
    Are all words spelled correctly?
Is proper grammar being used? If not, is it appropriate to use colloquialisms, or spoken language phraseology for certain aspects of the essay?
  • Content and appropriateness of topic as it relates to the assigned topic, and the program to which student is applying.
How well does the essay address the question at hand?
Is the student's answer honest or contrived?
Has the student infused the essay with his or her personality and strengths?
Is the essay tailor written for the particular school being applied for, or does it appear to be generic and form-like essay?
  • Word choice and sentence structure
Is the essay brief and concise in its word choices?
Is the wording natural, or is it contrived and thesaurus-like?
    Are there any awkward sentences?
Does the essay include transitional sentences?
  • Strengths
What differentiates this essay from others?
What is particularly effective about this essay?
Does the writer use vivid examples and/or descriptive details?
  • Weaknesses
What aspect of this essay needs improvement?
What is particularly ineffective about this essay?
Is the writer boring, unorganized, and/or contrived?
5) Save a "tracked" version of essay for student's review
Once edited with Word's tracking tool, the student's tracked essay will be saved.
  • This tracked essay will be provided to the student.
  • The benefit of a tracked essay is that it allows the student to clearly see where the ESLessays editor has made changes, additions, and deletions. This helps the student to better understand the final version of his or her essay (the final version will be discussed later.)
  • Another benefit of tracked changes is that it allows the student total control over the editing process. If the student prefers to have input over the final version of his or her essay, s/he can do this simply by accepting and rejection tracked changes on a one by one basis. To do this the student would open the essay in Word, then go to tools/track changes/accept-or-reject-changes.
6) Implement changes suggested in "tracked" version of essay.
  • In addition to providing a tracked version of your essay, your ESLessays editor will provide a version in which tracked changes have been accepted. This is beneficial to students who do not own Word, or students who are very busy.
7) Review newly edited essay, and finetune further.
  • Once your ESLessays editor has accepted all tracked changes to your essay, s/he will read the essay one final time. At this time your editor will do a final edit for all of the issues discussed in step 4.
8) Student Receives Gold Package
  • When all editing is complete your ESLessays editor will send you a file containing;
    1. Three versions of your essay (original, tracked, final)
    2. A one to two page analysis of your essay
    3. A tutorial on the power of Word's tracking tool
    4. A report on your chances of getting into the nation's top 150 colleges. Note: The prediction service is only available to undergraduate applicants who have completed the admission predictor questionnaire.
    6. $5 discount good toward the purchase of ESLessays' College Application Kit
